Pastor Mark and Grace answer this question during a live Q&A. Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you can’t be loving your wife right now—even if you’re still waiting to meet her. One practical idea? Write letters to your future wife in a journal to let her know how you’re growing, how you’re praying for her, verses you’re meditating on, etc. and then give them to her when you get married.
“Guys, it’s good to be journaling for your wife someday, praying for her, as Scripture comes to mind, and then using that as a way to have affection and devotion, even though you may have not met her yet.” - Mark Driscoll
Take his advice! :) I think it’s romantic and thoughtful. I have been doing that for my future husband since 2003 (9 years).
There are many things that I like about this. First, I love the fact that Pastor Mark and Grace sit and answer questions together, as a couple. My future wife and I will do this in our future church. Second, I love the idea of men keeping a journal of sorts dedicated solely to their future wives (known or not). I think it’s a way for them to stay focused on the goal of marriage and focused on saving themselves for that future person. And, doing it all with a Godly foundation will make for a Godly marriage in the long run.
